Expertise

Yessica Perez
Administrative Coordinator

Yessica has combined her skillset in residential direct patient care and business and brings those skills to The Cottages. She is the primary point of contact here and assists with management and organization of operations and communicates directly with patients and their families. She works with residents and families to help with insurance and Medicaid coordination, she schedules and coordinates resident transportation, activities, and entertainment among much more!

Yessica Perez started her career in residential care, where she provided direct patient care to individuals with disabilities in the community setting and to the geriatric population in the assisted living setting. She has worked at Mosaic, where she was a Universal Worker, responsible for direct patient care, cooking, cleaning, activities, and transportation. She has also worked at Kearny County Assisted Living facility, where she was a Certified Medication Aide and was responsible for resident Activities of Daily Living.

 Yessica then worked at Account Recovery Specialists Inc, where she transitioned into the business field. At ARSI, Yessica started as an Account Manager and was responsible for contacting consumers directly and advising them of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment. She was then promoted to the Client Service department and was responsible for providing oversight to Collection Account Managers as well as processing files and resolving client and staff questions.

Nidia Ortega
Operator and Health Services Director

Nidia Ortega is an advocate of patient and family-centered care. She has seventeen years of healthcare experience, with fourteen of those as a nurse. She began her career in acute care (medical-surgical nursing) in faith-based healthcare organizations such as St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City and Mercy Regional Hospital in Manhattan (now known as Ascension Via Christi). She has also worked at Kearny County Hospital (a critical access hospital), where she transitioned into administration and long-term care. While simultaneously working in acute care, Nidia also provided direct patient care to special-needs children in the home health setting for a total of eight years (through Advocare Home Health Agency and Craig Home Care).

Nidia has attended Garden City Community College nursing program. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology as well as a secondary degree in Life Sciences from Kansas State University, in addition to graduate studies at Friends University Master of Healthcare Leadership Program. Nidia conducted research through Developing Scholars Program and was a two-time recipient of the Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research Award. Nidia has also volunteered as an educator through the KSU Research and Extension in Finney County after completion of Stanford University’s “Diabetes Self-Management Program” and “Chronic Disease Self-Management Program” Master Trainer certification. 

It is through service that Nidia has built strong community ties in Southwest Kansas. She now serves through her role of Operator and Health Services Director at The Cottages Home Plus facility, where she manages facility operations, provides oversight to ensure compliance of care, and fosters a decentralized organizational structure in which the patient is the leader of their healthcare team.
